About us

Kairos is the transliteration of an ancient Greek word (καιρός) for “time”. Perhaps it is less familiar than its sibling chronos (χρόνος), which has the connotation of chronological time (seconds, minutes, hours, and so on). In contrast to chronos, kairos connotes the fullness of time, an opportune moment. This is the origin of our tagline: time for positive change. We view this first half of the 21st century to be just such a moment, a time when we can choose a path of compassion and empathy to lead us toward a world in which everyone thrives.

Collaborative is both an adjective, describing works of collaboration, and a noun, groups of people working together toward common goals. We use this word to capture both the content and the process of our work together.

A few things we’re great at

We work at the intersection of empathy, systems, and change. Whether we’re talking about change within individuals, among teams, or across societies, Kairos Collaborative works to connect people. We believe sustainable, measurable change only happens when we work together.

Facilitation

We facilitate conversations that shift perspectives, connect people, and create motion toward thriving. Our approach works best for groups that value every voice and want to work toward solutions that are more unique and effective than one individual offers.

Systems

We exist within a web of interconnected systems. Sustainable change depends not just on individuals making different choices, but also on envisioning systems that support life. Once we have a vision for more life-systaining social systems, we can work to make that vision real.

Empathy

Our work views empathy as a conduit for connection between humans. We practice empathy no as a trait of temperment, but as a choice to connect with ourselves by acknowledging feelings and needs, sharing those, and making requests that might bring life into our conversations, relationships, and spheres.
